PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surfactant composition suppressing salt formation with calcium ions and magnesium ions included in water, even though water having high degree of hardness is used, and having excellent detergent effect, and provide a detergent composition including the same. SOLUTION: The liquid surfactant composition comprises (a) one or more species selected from a group consisting of alkylbenzene sulfonic acids, alkylbenzene sulfonates, alkylsulfuric acids and alkylsulfuric acid salts and (b) a hydrocarbon group-containing polyoxyalkylene-based compound.
