PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mold clamping device constituted so as to produce mold clamping force by an electromagnet and capable of shortening the time until the occurrence of desired mold clamping force to enhance the rising characteristics, and a mold clamping force controlling method. SOLUTION: The mold clamping device 10 for producing mold clamping force by the electromagnet 49 is constituted so that an inverse electromotive force producing means 9 for estimating the magnetic flux density of the electromagnet 49 is provided so as to be superposed on the exciting coil 48 of the electromagnet 49.
