A growth-promoting feed or drink supplement for young animals, which supplement also prevents the occurrence of coccidiosis in chickens, is bis-(5-nitrofurfurylidene)-acetone guanylhydrazone, or an acid addition salt, e.g. the hydrochloride, of formula:- <FORM:0985137/A5-A6/1> wherein R1 is hydrogen, lower alkyl or halogen, R2 is hydrogen or lower alkyl, X is the acid, and n is 1, 1 or 2, 1, 2 or 3 for a mono-, di-, or tri-basic acid. The supplement is employed in concentrations of 5-500 parts per million of the feed. The feeds may also contain chlortetracycline, tetracycline, oxytetracycline.ALSO:A growth-promoting supplement for the feed or drink of young animals, especially chickens, turkey poults and ducklings, but also cattle, horses, (pigs, dogs and sheep.
