Guide means for moving a window from its inwardly inclined closed position to its fully lowered position within the structure of a vehicle door, after the initial portion of lowering movement in its own plane, is tilted towards the median plane between inner and outer door panels below the window opening, throughout the subsequent lowering movement. In one embodiment, in which the window is tilted continuously during the subsequent movement, the means comprise side guide channels 5 which are located at an upper level adjacent the bottom edge of the window opening and are flared at 24 to allow the window to tilt its plane during the subsequent portion of the lowering movement and the flares are such that each channel 5 provides support for the opposite faces of the window as it is tilted, by a C-form guide centrally disposed channel 10, Fig. 2, accommodating a sliding shoe 9 of nylon secured to the bottom window support channel 7 the shoe being chamfered as at 25 Fig. 4 and rounded at 26 to provide a bearing with the channel 10, the C-form channel being shaped to provide the tilting. There may be such a channel either side. In an alternative construction the guides 5 may be inclined apart downwardly, the initial lowering movement being in a direction relative to both guides, and at an intermediate position the edges leave the guides prior to tilting. To assist guiding the upper portion of the window 41, Fig. 8 through its tilting movement a vertically spaced pair of guiding rollers 47, Fig. 8, are provided near the lower edge of the window opening and nylon slippers 50, 52 similar to that shown in Fig. 4 are attached at each end of the window support bar 53 to slide in back-toback channels such as the ones shown at 48, Fig. 9, of appropriate curve, the upper slippers 50 leaving the guides, Fig. 11, and the window being guided by the lower slippers 52, Fig. 10, sandwiching rollers 47 secured to the door structure.
