<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a patient monitoring instrument which is optimized to provide a better score about the actual volume response of a patient so that the patient can be evaluated by an improved standard in terms of hemodynamic situation of danger. <P>SOLUTION: The patient monitor (4) determines a corrected global end-diastolic volume cGEDV from a global end-diastolic volume GEDV and a global ejection fraction GEF, according to the equation, cGEDV=GEDV/f(GEF), wherein the cGEDV is used as one novel parameter for the volume response of the patient (3). The f(GEF) is a correction function by the global ejection fraction GEF. The patient monitor (4) also determines a corrected right venticular end-diastolic volume cRVEDV from a right venticular end-diastolic volume RVEDV and a right venticular ejection fraction RVEF, according to the equation, cRVEDV=RVEDV/f(RVEF), wherein the cRVEDV is used as another novel parameter for the volume respondence of the patient (3), and the f(RVEF) is a correction function by the right venticular ejection fraction RVEF. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
