<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a knee brace which is compact and is suitable for adjusting the degree of movement accepted by a wearer. <P>SOLUTION: The knee brace is engaged in a leg on one knee-joint and is provided with an upper hollow shell member 1 and a lower hollow shell member 2 which have arched slots 55 and 76 respectively and a hinge mechanism. The hinge mechanism has a base plate 41 and a swivel arm 60. The base plate 41 has a concave part 62 which is demarcated by a radial wall, a boss 50 which is pivotally connected with the upper hollow shell member 1 and an arched tab 54 which is engaged in the arched slot 55 and limits the pivotal movement of the upper hollow shell member 1. The swivel arm 60 is pivotally connected with the base plate 41 and has one end which rotates about an axis nearly perpendicular to the base plate 41 in the concave 62 pivotally with respect to the base plate 41, another end which has a post 72 pivotally connected with the lower hollow shell member 2 and an upright tab 74 which is engaged in the arched slot 76 and limits the pivotal movement of the lower shell member 2. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
