IDLE EXHAUST CONSTRUCTION IN OUTBOARD MOTOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To assure a smooth idling operation of an outboard motor.

SOLUTION: The outboard motor 5 comprises: a case 10 which extends in a longitudinal direction and is supported by a hull 3; an engine 12 supported by the top face of the case 10; and a cowling 14 supported by the upper edge of the case 10 and used for covering the engine 12. An exhaust air duct 33 which ejects idling exhaust gas 32 of the engine 12 from within the case 10 to the atmosphere is formed. An expansion chamber 34 is formed in the way of the exhaust air duct 33. A downstream end of the exhaust air duct 33 is used as an idling exhaust port 35 which opens to the atmosphere. A plurality of idling exhaust ports 35 are formed.
