PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus for easily and exactly removing contamination deposited on a clearing target surface of an imaging part without risk of damaging a camera. SOLUTION: The surface of an optical member arranged in the vicinity of an imaging device for photoelectrically converting a subject image is cleaned. The imaging apparatus includes a contamination removal mechanism 1 including a capturing part 16 for capturing and removing contamination by scanning the surface of the optical member while coming into contact along the surface of the optical member and a cleaning mechanism 2 including a sweeping off part 22 for sweeping off the contamination captured by scanning of the contamination removal mechanism 1 from the capturing part 16 and cleaning the surface of the optical member.
