PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an etching method uniformly bringing an etching liquid into contact with a glass surface and uniformly etching the glass surface and to provide a device used to the method. SOLUTION: In the etching method, the etching of a glass plate is performed by spraying the etching liquid on the glass surface and removing the etching liquid thereafter. At this time, the etching liquid is sprayed preferably on a bottom surface of the glass plate held horizontally. The etching device is a glass etching device equipped with a supporting member supporting the glass plate, a nozzle 8 spraying the etching liquid on the glass surface and an etching liquid storing tank storing the etching liquid. In the device, the supporting member horizontally supporting the glass plate is preferable, and the nozzle 8 is so arranged as to spray the etching liquid toward the bottom surface held horizontally.
