<p>An instrument is adapted for placing a cross-member between a pair of bone screws. The instrument includes an actuator and a housing that contains the cross- member in a pre-deployed state such that the cross-member is at least partially enclosed within the housing. A mechanism couples the actuator to the cross- member. Actuation of the actuator causes the mechanism to rotate the cross- member out of the housing and to further translate the cross-member in a direction toward engagement with a bone screw.</p> |
