PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow the contraction of a regeneration pipe caused by the linear expansion accompanied by the temperature lowering of the regeneration pipe even if cooling is completed before the temperature of the heated regeneration pipe reaches a temperature in soil so as to certainly prevent the length insufficiency or damage of the regeneration pipe after execution due to residual stress. SOLUTION: The regeneration pipe 1 which has an outer diameter smaller than the inner diameter of the existing pipe S, and comprises a thermoplastic resin, is inserted in the existing pipe S embedded in the ground between manholes M and M' and, after the regeneration pipe 1 is heated, it is pressurized to be increased in its diameter to line the inner surface of the existing pipe S. Prior to the insertion of the regeneration pipe S in the existing pipe S, a diameter increase suppressing pipe 10 having an outer diameter almost equal to the inner diameter of the existing pipe S is partially extended toward the manholes M and M' to be inserted in the end part of the existing pipe S, and the contraction of the regeneration pipe 1 accompanied by the temperature falling of the regeneration pipe 1 is allowed.
