PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely scrape toner sticking on an image carrying surface, irrespective of the kinds of toner. SOLUTION: The toner T sticking on the object surface 56 is scraped, by the cleaning member with the movement thereof in one direction relative to the object surface 56, while being kept in contact with the object surface 56. The contact part 44 of the cleaning member is constituted so that both the contact angleαon one direction side and the contact angleβon a side opposite to the one direction can separately maintain an acute angle during the movement of the cleaning member in one direction relative to the object surface 56, while being kept in a state of being in contact with the object surface 56.
