PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cut paper reader capable of consecutively reading a plurality of sheets of cut paper, which executes print processing in parallel with reading processing to allow printing print data different by sheets of cut paper, and a control method of the cut paper reader. SOLUTION: An image reading part 61 and a magnetic ink character read control part 62 consecutively read images and magnetic ink characters of a plurality of checks S by one read command, and a print data development part 57 executes development processing of rear-side print data to be printed on the plurality of checks S, by one development command, and a print control part 58 prints developed print data on the plurality of checks S in parallel with the reading processing.
