PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely operate a two-way clutch unit during the starting by enhancing the responsiveness by simple structure. SOLUTION: This two-way clutch unit comprises an input outer ring rotatingly driven by a drive source, an output shaft for taking out a torque transmitted from the input outer ring to the outside, a clutch ring so interposed between the input outer ring and the output shaft as to be axially movable and unrotatable relative to each other and engageable with and disengageable from the output shaft, and a cam mechanism for controlling the engagement and disengagement of the clutch ring with and from the output shaft by axially moving the clutch ring by the circumferential movement. The cam mechanism comprises a fixed cam 37 having a cam surface 44 which is so formed that its inclination angle is gradually increased from a gentle slope 44a<SB>1</SB>to a sharp slope 44a<SB>2</SB>in the axial direction and gradually increases the axial movement amount of the clutch ring relative to the circumferential movement amount.
