PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bearing device for a wheel capable of improving sealability of a seal and maintaining bearing performance over a long period of time. SOLUTION: A backup seal 13 is attached to an outer periphery of an end on the outer side of an external member 3; this backup seal 13 integrally includes a seal lip 15b extending incliningly outward in the radial direction; a metal ring 16 with which the seal lip 15b comes into sliding-contact includes a cylinder part 16a on an inner diameter part extending in the axial direction, and is formed into a disc shape by press working a steel sheet having rust-proof property; and the metal ring 16 is fixed in a state of being held to a side face 6c on the inner side by a hub bolt 6a implanted on a wheel mounting flange 6. Thereby, the bearing device for a wheel capable of improving sealability of the seal 8 and maintaining bearing performance over a long period of time can be provided even when used in a deteriorated environment.
