PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control a tension of a strip in a continuous heat treatment facility. SOLUTION: The continuous heat treatment facility 2 has a heat treatment furnace 10, and a plurality of hearth rolls 11 which are installed in the heat-treating furnace 10 and are rotated by a drive motor 12. The method for controlling the tension of the strip 3 which is passed through the heat treatment furnace 10 when heat-treating the strip 3 by using the above facility 2 includes adjusting a field current of the drive motor 12 when having started driving so that the tension of the strip 3 is kept at a predetermined value.
