PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metal composite having a metal oxide coating film, which is superior in adhesiveness and corrosion resistance and can be thick, formed on a metallic substrate, and to provide a production method therefor. SOLUTION: The metal composite 1 has the coating film 4 made from a metallic oxide on the metallic substrate 2, and further has an intermediate layer 3 formed of an incompletely oxidized film between the substrate 2 and the coating film 4.
