PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a composite fine particle composed of a metal oxide-based phosphor fine particle having a surface coated with a silica layer and to provide a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: The method for producing a silica-coated metal oxide-based phosphor fine particle comprises using a solution containing a hydrolyzable silicon compound or its oligomer, water, a basic compound and a water-soluble organic solvent and forming a silica layer on the surface of a metal oxide-based phosphor fine particle having an average primary particle diameter of 0.01-10μm. Preferably the average primary particle diameter of the metal oxide-based phosphor fine particle is 0.01-10μm and the thickness of the silica layer is 0.001-0.5μm. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
