PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new 2-phenylimidazole derivative or its salt having an excellent soil treatment activity as an insecticide for agricultural and gardening use, acaricide and nematocide, and an insecticide for agricultural and gardening use, acaricide and nematocide containing the derivative or its salt as the active ingredient. SOLUTION: The 2-phenylimidazole derivative and its salt are represented by general formula [I], wherein R indicates a 1-6C alkyl group, a 1-6C haloalkyl group or a cyclopropylmethyl group; n indicates 0 or 1; A1and A2each independently indicate a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a cyamo group, a 1-6C alkyl group or a 1-6C haloalkyl group; A3indicates a hydrogen atom or a 1-6C alkyl group; B1indicates a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom or a 1-6C alkyl group; and B2indicates a halogen atom, a 1-6C alkyl group or a 1-6C haloalkyl group.
