PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To impart a new efficacy and effect to pottery such as a ceramic or porcelain. SOLUTION: A powder of carbon ceramic is mixed into clay of a green body of pottery and kneaded. That is to say, the porcelain is obtained by mixing the powder of the carbon ceramic into the green body in an amount of 10-30 wt.%, then kneading the resulting mixture, forming the kneaded material into a desired form, and firing the formed green body at 850-1,300°C. Alternately, the pottery is obtained by mixing the powder of the carbon ceramic into glaze containing a silicate compound for ceramics as a main component, then applying the resulting glaze on the surface of a biscuit-fired ceramic, and firing the biscuit-fired ceramic applied with the glaze.
