PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrain electric power consumption of a heat pump by controlling the number of revolution of a compressor. SOLUTION: The air conditioner for a vehicle is furnished with a control unit 14 to which an engine ECU 40 to which sensors such as a water temperature sensor 36 to detect temperature of cooling water to be a heat source of heating, an exhaust gas temperature sensor 38 to detect exhaust gas temperature, etc., are connected. The control unit 14 controls the number of revolution of the electric compressor 28 of the heat pump to heat the cooling water in accordance with temperature of the cooling water, temperature of the exhaust gas, and engine output, while acquiring a detection result of each of the water temperature sensor 36 and the exhaust gas temperature sensor 38 from the engine ECU 40, and also acquiring the engine output from the engine ECU 40.
