A sump for a dish washer is provided to prevent leakage of washing water pumped via a washing pump into a periphery of a vario valve by improving a mounting position of a vario valve determining a flow direction of washing water. A sump for a dish washer comprises a sump case(11), a pump housing(12), an impeller(18), and a vario valve(19). The pump housing, which is mounted inside the sump case, consists of a pump case for pumping washing water, a mount portion for the vario valve formed on an outlet of the pump case, and a guide passage for guiding washing water discharged from the pump case to a lower nozzle or a water guide. The impeller is installed in the pump case to pump the washing water. The vario valve is placed at the mount for the vario valve to determine a flow direction of the pumped washing water.
