<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the following problems: an image forming apparatus disables configuration settings unless person authentication is performed by network connection; and complicated procedures such as the person authentication are required to perform the configuration settings. <P>SOLUTION: In this image forming apparatus, the configuration settings can be performed by a simple method: a personal environment is preset in a storage medium such as an IC card; and the IC card is mounted in the image forming apparatus, so that the configuration settings can be read from the IC card and set in the image forming apparatus. Thus, the preset IC card fit for a user's use purpose is used in equipment which is installed in a convenience store etc. and utilized by the general public, so that the image forming apparatus can be constantly used in the same operation environment. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
