A portable terminal for checking an image without needing any special operation. The portable terminal comprises imaging means, state detecting means for detecting the state of the portable terminal, checking information storage means storing image information for checking, and checking means for checking the image information captured by the imaging means with the image information stored in the checking information storage means. When the state detecting means detects that the portable terminal is in a predetermined state, the portable terminal is judged to be in a checkable state, and the image information is captured by the imaging means.
