<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of preparing image data in which model-dependent characters are rasterized on a client side upon reconnection in order to print the model-dependent characters on a server side, having a client transmit the image data to a printing server and overlaying and printing printing data and the prepared image data on the server side, which is a printing method in a network environment. <P>SOLUTION: In a network printing method comprising a means for achieving a client terminal, a means for achieving a web server capable of storing form data and data for printing and an image generation method capable of preparing a printing image, the model-dependent character is detected on the basis of the attribute of variable data on the server side, detected information is transmitted to the client upon reconnection, and the image data are prepared on the client side.
