摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steering unit improved in safety in collision by stabilizing the releasing load of the steering unit by suppressing the increase of the releasing load when the steering unit is broken off in secondary collision. SOLUTION: A notched groove 6 does not have an opening on the rear side of a car body. A flange portion 31, a rear side elongated portion 311, and a lower side bent portion 312 are formed so as to have a continuous shape. As a result, the separation at the opening of the notched groove does not occur in a different way from before. When a bending moment M has been applied to the steering unit, therefore, the displacement of the right and left flange portions 31 arranged on both sides of the notched groove 6 in the vertical direction of the car body is equal. As a result, the releasing load does not increase when the flange portions 31 separate from a capsule 7, and the flange portions 31 separate from the capsule 7 under a stable releasing load in the forward direction of the car body.
