PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sliding material capable of reforming the surface sliding characteristic according to a request for a sliding component without considerably changing the surface roughness of the sliding material by the shot-blasting. SOLUTION: The sliding material has a base metal, and a deposited metal which is mechanically deposited so as to cover at least 8% of the sliding surface of the base metal by shot-blasting metal particles softer and smaller in friction coefficient than the base metal on the sliding surface of the base metal.
