PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To certainly detect a wire bound by a wire binding machine regardless of the size of paper by a simple constitution. SOLUTION: In the wire binding machine, the wire binding machines A and B are arranged movably in a direction perpendicular to a conveying direction of a bundle of papers and are positioned in a direction perpendicular to the conveying direction according to a binding position of the bundle of papers and the bundle of papers is bound by the wire 5. A wire detector 19 for detecting the wire after binding at a position in a downstream side in the conveying direction of the bundle of papers is mounted to respective clinchers 12a, 12b opposed to each of stitching heads 11a, 11b of the wire binding machines A and B. Thereby, a movement mechanism required for change of the position of the wire detector 19 accompanying with change of the position of the wire binding machine is canceled and further, the wire after binding can be certainly detected regardless of change of the binding position of the bundle of papers.
