The method involves feeding torque into a shaft by an electric motor (20), and measuring the torque provided to the shaft by a torque sensor (21). The torque is processed in a control device (24) and the feeding of the torque is interrupted when the processing of a torque signal provides a control signal that reproduces an incorrect drive condition. The motor current is measured and processed for generating the control signal in the control device. An independent claim is also included for an arrangement for executing a method for controlling a drive of a typographic machine.
