Telecommunications service apparatus 3 receives a text message, e.g. SMS, from an administering user and, upon receiving an authorisation signal, such as a calling line identification (CLI) signal, the apparatus 3 stores the text message in a store associated with a retrieval telephone number. The stored text message is then available for subsequent forwarding to other users that send a suitably formatted enquiry text message to the retrieval number. The retrieval telephone number may be the same as the administration telephone number, to which the text message is originally sent. The apparatus 3 may be used as a noticeboard or bulletin board and multiple text messages may be stored in a circular buffer to allow the messages to be sent in sequence to other users upon request. |
