987,473. Insulated pipes. SVENSKA METALLVERKEN A.B. June 21, 1962 [June 22, 1961], No. 23979/62. Heading F2P. A method for the continuous production of insulated hot water and &c. pipes comprises advancing the pipe in the direction of its length and wrapping sheets or strips of insulating material around the pipe with the aid of funnellike dies, or spraying foamed plastic on the pipe, and shaping and securing the insulation by wires or strips which are fastened or welded in position. Insulating material such as glass fibres or rockwool may be mixed with plastic binding means which acts as an adhesive and partly as a shaping means. The pipe may be rotated or the insulating strips may be wound around the pipe. The insulation can be protected by plastic or other strips pasted, welded extruded or vulcanized to form a tight sealing cover. |
