Disclosed is a formulation comprising at least an antigen and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier for transcutaneous immunisation; wherein the antigen has sufficient Langerhans cell activating capabilities such that a separate adjuvant is not required; and wherein the formulation is applied in a therapeutically effective amount to a pre-treated area of the subjects skin which is not perforated, and pre-treatment disrupts at least the stratum corneum of the skin.
