UNSATURATED POLYESTER RESINS ARE AIR-DRYING AND HAVE IDEAL GLOSSINESS AND A SENSE OF BUILD AND PROVIDE A BEAUTIFUL FINISH. THEY ARE THEREFORE USED FOR PAINTS IN GENERAL, PARTICULARLY PAINTS FOR WOODWORKING, ETC. HOWEVER, AN ABRASIVE AGENT MUST BE CONCOMITANTLY USED WITH UNSATURATED POLYESTER RESIN PAINTS AND THE PHENOMENON OCCURS WHEREBY WHEN THE AMOUNT OF ABRASIVE AGENT USED IS INCREASED TO IMPROVE SANDING PERFORMANCE, THERE IS A REDUCTION IN PAINT FILM TRANSPARENCY, WHILE IF AMOUNT OF ABRASIVE AGENT USED IS REDUCED IN ORDER TO RETAIN TRANSPARENCY, THERE IS A REDUCTION IN SANDING PERFORMANCE, AND HOW TO OBTAIN A BALANCE BETWEEN SANDING PERFORMANCE AND TRANSPARENCY HAS BEEN A PROBLEM. @THE PRESENT INVENTION IS A METHOD OF CURING UNSATURATED POLYESTER RESIN PAINT FILM, CHARACTERIZED IN THAT AFTER UNSATURATED POLYESTER RESIN PAINT CONTAINING ORGANIC PEROXIDE, CARBOXYLIC ACID METAL SALT, AND PHOTOPOLYMERIZATION INITIATOR IS APPLIED TO A SUBSTRATE, THE PAINT FILM IS INTERNALLY CURED AT NORMALTEMPERATURE OR BY HEATING AND THEN IRRADIATED WITH ACTIVE ENERGY RAYS FOR SURFACE CURING, AND AN ABRASIVE AGENT CAN BE ADDED TO THIS UNSATURATED POLYESTER RESIN PAINT.
