The valve has a pintle shaft bushing (32) placed in a port. A valve pintle shaft is placed in the bushing and extends into a chamber. A valve head placed on the shaft mates with a valve seat. A coil spring (44) is placed in connection between an actuator and the bushing for retaining the bushing in the port against operating pressure within the chamber. A gas seal surrounds the pintle between the retainer and the actuator. An independent claim is also included for an internal combustion engine.
