A VEHICLE RUNNING MANAGEMENT METHOD BY WHICH VEHICLES (50, 52) RUNNING IN OPPOSITE DIRECTIONS CAN SMOOTHLY PASS EACH OTHER WITHOUT FREQUENTLY STOPPING IS PROVIDED. THIS METHOD INCLUDES A STEP FOR DETECTING POSITIONS OF FIRST AND SECOND VEHICLES (50, 52) WHICH ARE APPROACHING EACH OTHER AND A STEP FOR DETERMINING WHETHER OR NOT THE FIRST AND SECOND VEHICLES (50, 52) ARE THE CLOSEST VEHICLES TO EACH OTHER WITHIN A PREDETERMINED RANGEAHEAD OF EACH OTHER BASED ON THE DETECTED POSITIONS. WHEN IT IS DETERMINED THAT THE FIRST AND SECOND VEHICLES (50, 52) ARE THE CLOSEST VEHICLES TO EACH OTHER WITHIN THE PREDETERMINED RANGE AHEAD OF EACH OTHER, A TARGET POSITION IS SET TO BE A DOUBLE-TRACK PART (16) WHICH IS SITUATED BETWEEN THE FIRST AND SECOND VEHICLES (50, 52), AND SPEEDS OF THE FIRST AND/OR SECOND VEHICLES ARE CONTROLLED SO THAT THE FIRST AND SECOND VEHICLES REACH THE TARGET POSITION SUBSTANTIALLY AT THE SAME TIME.(FIG 5)
