Method for selecting a data set

The method involves selecting a part of data records such as music titles, from a memory unit connected with a computing unit by using an operating unit of a motor vehicle based on selection objects, which represent the records. The records are outputted by a graphic display unit that is connected with the computing unit, where a user is represented as a map-similar structure by the display unit. A part of the selected object is embedded in the structure, where the operating unit is utilized alternatively for operating driver information system of the vehicle.
