A hydrocarbon adsorbing three-way catalyst with optimized oxygen storage capacity and a method for preparing the same are provided to maximize the hydrocarbon cleaning characteristics of the catalyst by optimizing the oxygen absorbing and releasing properties of an oxygen storage material according to an exposure temperature of a catalyst converter. A hydrocarbon adsorbing three-way catalyst with optimized oxygen storage capacity includes: a hydrocarbon adsorption layer as a first coating layer that is formed on a support layer of a honeycomb structure and comprises zeolite with an Si/Al ratio of 24 to 100 or non-aluminum contained silicate; and a second coating layer that is formed on an upper portion of the hydrocarbon adsorption layer and comprises at least one precious metal-supported alumina and an oxygen storage material, the at least precious metal being selected from the group consisting of platinum, palladium, rhodium and mixtures thereof. |
