A method and an apparatus for sorting a broadcasting program are provided to previously sort a channel which a user prefers, thereby improving the efficiency of program sorting and providing convenience in searching a program to a user. An apparatus for sorting a broadcasting program comprises the followings: a tuner(10) for tuning digital broadcasting; a demultiplexer(20) for performing demultiplexing the tunned digital broadcasting into audio data, video data, EPG(Electronic Program Guide) data; an audio decoder(30) for decoding the demultiplexed audio data; a video decoder(40) for decoding the demultiplexed video data; a VDP(Video Display Processor)(50) for processing the decoded video data; and a data processing unit. The data processing unit includes a storage device(70), a controller(80) for controlling to search a broadcasting program suitable for conditions inputted by the user from a broadcasting program schedule stored in the storage unit and sort the searched data according to a sorting order inputted by the user, and a nonvolatile memory(90) for storing data on the favorite channel of a user.
