A hermetic type compressor is provided to prevent failure and noise due to opening/closing the suction valve by absorbing shock exerted to the suction valve when the suction valve is opened/closed. A hermetic type compressor includes: a cylinder; a cylinder head; a valve plate(40) provided between the cylinder and the cylinder head and including a suction hole(41) for guiding refrigerant flowed into a refrigerant suction chamber to a compression chamber; a suction valve whose free end for opening/closing the suction hole is provided so as to cover an outlet of the suction hole at the side of the compression chamber; a spring(90) provided at the valve plate at the outlet side of the suction hole for absorbing shock and supporting the free end of the suction valve.
