The method involves subjecting a body (1) to radiation by using an electrically heated radiant heater (3) with temperature. The radiation is reflected partially at the body in such a manner that a measuring error occurs during the temperature measurement. The error is compensated, where the compensation takes place through an additional measurement of the electrical characteristics of the radiant heater. An independent claim is also included for a device for providing the pyrometric measurement of the surface temperature of a body.
