An information recording device and a video camera are provided to display the residual recordable amount of a recording medium and to reduce the capacity of the recording medium gradually by linking remaining cells. An information recording device comprises a composition unit information acquisition unit, and a residual amount control unit. The composition unit information acquisition unit acquires information from a recording area of a medium by the unit of composition. The residual amount control unit outputs a first residual recordable amounts(600,610,620) based on the acquired unit information. The residual amount control unit outputs the first residual recordable amount not only based on the unit information but also recording capacities(601, 611, 621).
