A method for providing navigation background information and a navigation system using the same are provided to enhance the reality of the navigation background information by adjusting images based on a distance between a vehicle and a peak. A navigation system includes a peak point database(110), a distance/angle producing unit(120), an image loading unit(130), an image adjusting unit(140), and a background information generating unit(150). The peak point database stores respective peak position information. The distance/angle producing unit produces distance/angle information between a vehicle and a peak. The image loading unit loads an image corresponding to the peak from an image database when the distance/angle information is in a predetermined range. The image adjusting unit adjusts the loaded image based on a distance between the vehicle and peak. The background information generating unit generates navigation background information including the adjusted image. |
