A display device having an electronic album function for saving power and a method for controlling the same are provided to improve the efficiency of power consumption by removing unnecessary power consumption when cancellation or execution of the electronic album function is implemented. A method for controlling a display device having an electronic album function for saving power comprise the following steps of: supplying power to the display device(S502); determining whether the electronic album function is inputted in an idle mode(S503); and controlling an operation for preventing power from being supplied to an electronic album module unit when the electronic album function is inputted in the idle mode as a comparison result(S504).
