993,988. Broaching. LAPOINTE MACHINE TOOL CO. Ltd. May 7, 1964 [May 7, 1963], No. 17974/63. Headings B3B and B3L. A broaching machine comprises a single tool slide 3 and a pair of work-tables 1, 2 movable independently between loading positions and a common working position. When a workpiece on the table 1 has been broached, the table is swung aside against a stop 7, the tool-slide is returned and the table 2 then moved to the operative position. The tables are mounted on concentric shafts, the axia X being parallel to, or offset from, the axis Y of the tool-slide. The shafts are rotated by vane-type motors. Each table is supported, during cutting, by a guide-plate, which is cleaned by scraper plates 26, 27, and is locked by a tapered plunger engaging a recess 34. In a modification, the tables 48, 49, Fig. 5, are reciprocated. The table 48 is locked by a tapered plunger 56 re-acting against a block 59 In further modifications, the tables swing about separate axes or are moved electrically. |
