The method involves detecting whether an electronic device such as mobile phone is connected with a computer (100) by a processing unit of the device, and selecting a mass storage driver from a number of mass storage drivers. Information concerning the selection of the driver is transmitted to the computer, and the computer is instructed to activate the selected driver. Data are read from or written to a non-volatile storage unit via the activated driver, where the storage unit is arranged in the device. An independent claim is also included for an electronic device with a non-volatile storage unit and/or device.
