A gas detection method and a gas detection device are provided to readily generate a first measurement signal, which is a function related to intensity of an initial light signal and is substantially independent from gas concentration. A gas detection device comprises at least one wave-modulation laser source(1) for providing an initial light signal, a detection area(4) for receiving at least one gas, a controller including a DC supply controller(13) and an AC supply controller(14), and a processing unit(16~25). The DC supply controller(13) defines a DC current signal and the AC supply controller(14) provides an AC current signal of a specific initial frequency. A photo sensor(8) is arranged in a peripheral region of the detection area. The photo sensor(8) receives light signals and then provides detection signals proportional to intensity change of the light signals.
