<p>A marine turbine. In a first aspect the turbine comprises a nacelle 6 which houses a plurality of the turbine's components. The nacelle 6 has an aperture therein for receiving the components, and a cover for selectively opening and closing the aperture to the nacelle 6 in order to provide a substantially watertight seal there between. The nacelle 6 is arranged such that blades 10 of the turbine extend there beyond. In a second aspect the turbine comprises a plurality of blades 10 connected to an electricity generator via a shaft 8, braking means 16 being provided to control the speed of the shaft 8. In a third aspect the turbine is contained within a nacelle 6, and lifting means is provided to provide a load path between a lifting point 40, the nacelle 6 and the turbine. In a fourth aspect the turbine has a support structure (2, figure 3) comprising a base (40, figure 3) and a support member extending there from, the base including a recess (46, figure 3) for receiving ballast material.</p> |
