<p>LOADING SYSTEM The invention relates to a crane 1, system and method for loading cargo 8 onto a vessel 3, and in particular although not solely cargo with a longitudinal axis. The crane includes sensors for determining the position of the crane and position of the boom 4. An initialisation procedure occurs where the hoist 10 of the crane is aligned with a cargo receptacle e.g. 50a on the vessel, by moving the boom. The position of the crane and boom is determined. The boom is then moved to collect cargo from a wharf 2 and load it onto the receptacle by moving the boom to the initialisation position. The crane, boom and/or vessel position is also altered as required. Further, a tether e.g. 11 attached to the cargo may be used to align the axis of the cargo with the axis of the receptacle.</p> |
