HARD CARBON FILM AND HARD CARBON FILM SLIDING MEMBER

A hard carbon film and a hard carbon film sliding member are provided to decrease frictional coefficient, to simplify the process, and to use the film in the lubricant of various shapes effectively. A hard carbon film contains an amorphous carbon as a main component, and cobalt and/or nickel with the total volume from more than 1.4 to less than 39 atom%. When a section of the film is viewed by a transmission electron microscope, the portion occupied by the cobalt agglomerate and the nickel agglomerate having an equivalence diameter exceeding 5nm is less than 40% or 12% occupied by the agglomerate generated in the film. The hard carbon film is used in the lubricant. An additive is contained in the lubricant, and the additive contains the intermolecular hydroxyl.
