A keypad array in a portable terminal is provided to maximize the efficiency of character input by minimizing input frequency and providing unified intuitiveness. A keypad array in a portable terminal comprises a transformational vowel region(BR) and a representative consonant region(OR). The 'a', 'i', 'u', 'e', and 'o' of the 'a' row, or a vowel block, are respectively allocated to the keys of the transformational vowel region(BR) as head sounds. In order to configure the rows of 'ka', 'sa', 'ta', 'na', 'ha', 'ma', and 'ra' as a consonant block, the other keys except for the keys of the transformational vowel region(BR) are allocated to the representative consonant region(OR) as subhead sounds. The sonants of the consonant block are respectively allocated as the subhead sounds of the consonants of the keys of the representative consonant region(OR). |
